Purpose of Review Electric Generators

How reliable is your electricity? If you live in the Midwest, the late spring, early summer season has tested electric consumers and companies alike. In my opinion, your local electric grid is vulnerable; yet, the demands of most consumers are elevating the necessity of electricity. For example, as America's population ages, the demands for electricity to run medical devices is burgeoning. And, as more Americans, trying to escape the high cost of gas, work from their homes, a power outage will impact their ability to get work done. And, although businesses tend to have the most backup power systems, too many restaurant owners fail to have a generator system capable of saving $1000's of food.

So what can be done? I believe that US consumers and businesses must consider making their own power, in the event of emergencies or natural disaster that interrupts their ability to get grid electricity. Today, when it comes to losing electricity, self-reliance is essential. In June, 2008, over 250,000 electric customers lost their power in Michigan . . . and many of those customers had to go without power from Detroit Edison and Consumers Energy for almost a week. How would you cope without power for a week? Frankly, I'd rather be living in the comfort and conveniences of my home, instead of taking the family to hotel and paying $200 a night for a place to sleep.

And that's why I created this blog . . . to enable you to receive the latest information about portable generators, standby generators, and renewable power options. Although I don't get access to every brand of generators, I do plan on reviewing generators from Winco, Gillette, Tsurumi Pump, Guardian / Generac, MMD, and other major suppliers. Obviously, it's easier for me to review portable generators compared to permanent, standby generators. Where possible, if you happen to own a standby generator and would like to post a review, please let me know. I look forward to sharing my knowledge of these products and hope to make you a smart generator shopper.
